A downloadable videogame typology

Videogame genres are meaningless. They tell no story, create no relationships between games, communicate nothing of a lineage of influences and conventions. They are supermarket aisles and junk drawers, overflowing with conflict and yet too deeply entrenched to ever be untangled. And yet, here is something of an attempt. A coining of a dozen terms with which to categorize different games. It is cheeky and contradicting, but at least it has flavor.
